Setting up your password in Canvas
Logging into the course website (Canvas)
has historically been the most common challenge for participants when the course begins.
Have you taken a course with us since September 2018?
You likely already have a login that is
set up if you are using the same email.
You should be able to input your email address and previous password.
Is this your first time taking a course with us since September
2018?
You will need to set up a user account
that will be usable for this course and any future courses with us. Part of the
first-time log in process will redirect you to your email to help set up your
password. Once you have been added to the course, you can also set up your
password by going directly to the course website on your computer
and following these instructions:
- Go to the course website: https://uwgh.instructure.com/ You will be prompted to login. Do not type anything in the email and password fields yet.
- Select ‘Forgot Password’. This will allow you to create a password for the course.
- Enter your email address that you used to register for the course. Select ‘Request Password.’
- Now go check your email inbox. Look for an email from ‘University of Washington E-Learning’. This email may go to your spam box, so be sure to check your spam/junk/promotions folder if you do not see the email in your inbox.
- Open the email message
- Click on the link that reads: ‘Click here to set a new password” You will be taken to the ‘Change Login Password’ window in your internet browser
In the ‘New Password’ box, type a password you can remember but cannot be easily guessed
In the ‘Confirm New Password’ box, type the same password again
Click “Update Password”
You will arrive at the Canvas dashboard. Log in with your email and new password. Welcome!
IMPORTANT: We do not have access to your password. Once you create a password for the course, please save it somewhere you can access easily. If you forget your password, you will need to create a new password by repeating this process.
